The 2019-20 Eastern Victorian bushfires resulted in far-reaching devastation for people, communities, ecosystems, businesses and infrastructure across the Upper Murray regions.

The impacts continue to be felt in affected communities.

The journey of recovery takes time and successful recovery is community centred, responsive and flexible.

Community-led recovery is open-ended and not-predetermined, which means ideas are considered and agreed collectively by the community, and activities and priorities are adapted and refined as required.

To enable community-led recovery, 11 Community Recovery Committees (CRCs) have been established across the Upper Murray to better understand local impacts, identify local priorities and develop community recovery plans.

CRCs are supported to bring their plan to life by the Towong Shire Council and Bushfire Recovery Victoria (BRV).
